Based in Flagstaff, Arizona in the Jay Lively Arena, 1650 North Turquoise Drive. The Flagstaff Youth Hockey Association (FYHA) House Program is a program for kids who want to play at a recreational level and not incur the time and/or expense associated with traveling both inside and outside of Arizona. FYHA's goal is for players to have fun, learn from practices and scrimmages, and play a few games against other teams. The House program is designed for skill development and hockey awareness. FYHA asks that every new player to hockey complete at least one season at the House level before they tryout for a competitive level program. For players in the 12U/14U/16U groups, depending on the number of kids registered, may all practice together, with a 12U/14U team playing some games against outside teams on weekends, and a couple of the games being away games, and possibly one (1) tournament. The Midgets will have a separate team for games, but similar game structure.

Arizona Youth Hockey Initiation Programs

Llittle-Howlers.png

Little Howlers Hockey is an on-ice youth hockey program hosted in cooperation with the Arizona Coyotes Hockey Development Program, the National Hockey League, USA Hockey, CCM and local hockey rinks.

The program consists of six (6) one-hour sessions designed to provide kids ages 5-9 a risk free introduction to the sport of hockey

For an incredibly low cost of $150 each child receives a set of CCM equipment to be used during the 6 week clinic including their own pair of skates TO KEEP, plus a membership to Howlers Kids Club and a voucher to a Coyotes game in the 2019-20 season

There is an equipment fitting session run by PURE Hockey before the first on-ice clinic to ensure all parents and children are aware of the proper manner in which to dress the child. The classes are taught by the local rink's learn to play instructors and include special visits from Coyotes/Jets Alumni Wayne McBean, Tim Watters, and Greg Adams

At the conclusion of the program, parents are given information on learn to skate and play hockey programs.

In an effort to help spark the growth of youth hockey across North America, the NHL, USA Hockey, Hockey Canada and CCM have worked together to fund head to toe equipment for kids to KEEP in conjunction with the new and improved Arizona Coyotes Little Howlers Hockey program. Each set of equipment includes everything your child needs to get started-shin pads, socks, hockey pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, helmet, skates, jersey and a stick.

In 2018, the Arizona Coyotes teamed up with Arizona native and Olympic silver medalist Lyndsey Fry to provide a place for young girls to fall in love with the sport of hockey, build confidence on and off the ice, connect with female role models and create lifelong friendships with girls just like them! That is how Small Frys, the premier girls hockey development program in Arizona, was born.

Small Frys is intended for young girls ages 6-12 who have gone through the Little Howlers Program (or similar Learn to Play/Skate program) and want to continue growing as a hockey player!

Girls will be taught hockey specific skating skills, stick handling, passing, shooting, positioning, and game-play. Most importantly, the girls will be challenged with a new sport and given life skills that they will carry with them forever!

Small Frys is broken into 3 parts/strides focusing on developing basic hockey skills during the program:

  1. The First Stride will be "fine-tuning" their basic hockey skills.

  2. The Second Stride will focus on game-play and positioning, as well as more advanced skill development.

  3. The Third and final Stride will include skills review and mini-season with half-ice games!

Prior to enrolling in Small Frys, players must have completed either a learn to skate program or the Little Howlers program.

LearnToPlay.png

AZ Ice’s Learn to Play Hockey is a free 4 week program which gives kids ages 3 to 14 the opportunity to try the great sport of hockey.

Each player will be provided Helmet, Gloves, stick and skates to use for the class. Upon completion each player will receive an evaluation with suggestions as to what their next step would be if they choose to continue with one of our many Ice Hockey or Skating programs.
